About The Position

This job works hand in hand with the specialty pharmacy team members, referring doctors, nursing staff, and care coordinators. Responsible for working directly with patients to navigate the specialty pharmacy process, ensuring patients receive timely access to their prescribed medications. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating processing, filling, packing, and shipping of prescriptions. Maintains inventory. Assists with intake and refills as necessary. Participates in special projects/committees as needed. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification in the state of practice
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Negotiation skills to assist the patient in navigation of the health care system.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Work independently and as a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating processing, filling, packing, and shipping of prescriptions.
  • Maintaining inventory and ordering.
  • Communicating and acting as liaison between insurance company, patients, providers, and specialty pharmacy team.
  • Maintaining documentation relative to the job.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and continued education.
  • Maintaining efficiency in specialty pharmacy intake technician and specialty pharmacy refill advocate roles.
  • Assisting with special projects/ committees.
  • Performing all job duties in accordance with company Specialty Pharmacy policies and accrediting bodies.
  • Adapting behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
  • Compliance with the employer's Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct, including the immediate reporting of any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct; patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns.
