About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Pharmacy Technician at our Proprium Specialty Pharmacy in Chesapeake, VA. This position is in a Call Center and you will be on the phone speaking to patients and setting up their medication orders for their entire shift. We do not fill or dispense medications in our department; we process and set up medication orders for our patients. Our department is looking for someone that can multitask and is receptive to ongoing feedback from leadership. Performs the technician responsibilities in specialized areas of pharmacy practice under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area. Demonstrates the ability to competently work independently in defined specialized areas of pharmacy practice. Training in an advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions. Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced specialist job positions. Participates in the training of new employees. Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner as required by specialty position. Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care. Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed. Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information. Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements. Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately. Training in an advanced Specialist Pharmacy Technician job functions. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Preferred)
  • 1 Year Pharmacy Experience (Preferred)
