Specialty Pharmacy Technician
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Pharmacy Technician for our Specialty Case Management Pharmacy at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This is a Full Time position with rotating shifts. The Specialty Pharmacy Tech performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. They are responsible for filling and delivering medications, ensuring adequate supplies, triaging and escalating issues, processing patient information, maintaining quality assurance, and operating pharmacy equipment appropriately. Additional duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
Nice To Haves
- CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Preferred)
- Previous Pharmacy Experience (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
- Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
- Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
- Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
- Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
- Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
