Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in pharmacy or Doctorate in pharmacy
  • 2 years of post graduate experience in patient care or 1 year the completion of a pharmacy residency program.
  • Must be efficient with basic computer programs such as e-mail, Skype, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • RP - Registered Pharmacist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • License to Administer Injectables - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of post graduate experience in patient care.
  • BCPS - Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist - Board of Pharmacy Specialties within 3 Years or CSP - Certified Specialty Pharmacist - Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board within 3 Years

Responsibilities

  • Fills and dispenses specialty prescription orders in accordance with laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and to the latest standards of pharmacy practice including those related to accreditation.
  • Reviews all medication orders for clinical appropriateness.
  • Supervises technical staff and participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Counsels patients as mandated by current OBRA regulations including self-injectable techniques and side effect management and records them in appropriate places.
  • Provides information to patients such as potential drug and food interactions, precautions, warnings, and contraindications in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintains and updates patient records including allergy information, prescription records, vaccination records, and any other documentation necessary to patient care.
  • Communicates with nurses, physicians, and other stakeholders regarding patient care.
  • Assists technical staff with benefit investigations and prior authorizations; secures financial assistance for patients.
  • Participates in quality improvement projects as requested by senior clinical staff or pharmacy director.
  • Communicates potential problems that may harm LVHN or Lehigh Valley Pharmacy Services with the pharmacy manager.
  • Administers vaccines and other injectables in accordance with HSPS policies and procedures and the laws of Pennsylvania.
  • Ensures adequate inventories of products necessary for daily business operations, while maintaining inventory control measures.
  • Reviews and understands technology and software including updates.
