About The Position

People Creating Success (PCS) is seeking a Direct Support Professional for their supported living service program for adults with developmental disabilities in Ventura. This role involves assisting participants in connecting with their community, supporting daily living skills, encouraging healthy habits and hobbies, and assisting with personal care. The ideal candidate is compassionate, has a person-centered mindset, and possesses strong communication and documentation skills. PCS has been a leader in providing services for adults with developmental disabilities for over 20 years, with a mission to help individuals pursue career, educational, and life goals.

Requirements

• Someone who is compassionate with a person-centered mindset
• Someone who has a warm, respectful, and professional demeanor
• Someone who is capable of communication with dignity and respect, especially during challenging moments
• A valid driver’s license
• Responsible, and can document goal progress tracking with detail

Nice To Haves

• DSP 1 & 2 certification (applicants who are not yet certified can take advantage of our internal certification programs)
• CPR / First Aid certification (Training will be provided if applicants are not certified or need to be recertified)
• Weekend Availability

Responsibilities

• Assist participant in connecting with their community and assist in building lasting relationships via providing transportation, participating in events, volunteering, and more
• Support participants with daily living skills such as cleaning, cooking, budget management, and light household duties
• Following care plans and helping participants achieve their personal goals
• Encourage healthy habits, studies, hobbies, and social activities
• Assist with personal care such as medication support, hygiene and bathing (lifting / transferring may be required)
• Collaborate Person-Centered Care planning with participant, staff and management
• Document shift and communication logs
