About The Position

We are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Cheese Specialist to join our team. The Cheese Specialist will be responsible for managing the cheese section, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring high-quality products. The ideal candidate has a passion for gourmet food, extensive knowledge of cheeses, and enjoys sharing this expertise with customers to enhance their shopping experience.
Requirements
- Prior experience with cheese, charcuterie, or in a specialty foods environment preferred
- Strong knowledge of different types of cheeses, flavor profiles, and best storage practices
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and inventory management abilities
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, lift and reach and perform repetitive motion
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of various cheeses, including origins, flavor profiles, and pairings. Stay updated on seasonal offerings and new arrivals.
- Engage with customers to provide recommendations based on their preferences and answer questions about cheese selection, storage, and pairing ideas.
- Oversee stock levels, placing orders to ensure the cheese section is fully stocked with a variety of popular and specialty cheeses.
- Inspect and handle cheese products to ensure freshness, proper rotation, and compliance with food safety standards.
- Arrange cheese displays to be visually appealing and organized, highlighting seasonal varieties and featured items.
- Conduct tastings to introduce customers to new products and encourage sales. Prepare samples in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Accurately label products with pricing and product information, keeping displays up-to-date and compliant with store policies.
- Work closely with the deli and specialty foods team, as well as suppliers, to maintain a dynamic and appealing cheese selection.
