About The Position

The Specialty Artist – MAC maximizes sales for the MAC brand, including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance, by identifying guests’ needs, helping them select and purchase merchandise, and maintaining store standards for cleanliness and replenishment. The role represents Ulta Beauty and MAC to guests and supports the Experience Manager through a focus on sales and service performance, guest service and associate culture, and operating procedures and compliance. It calls for professional-caliber makeup artistry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge. The artist delivers personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, and lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations; builds and maintains guest relationships and an active clientele portfolio; and contributes to MAC brand and store sales goals, services, loyalty, and in-store events. The role also supports training, promotions, merchandising, replenishment, inventory and shipment tasks, hygiene and cleanliness standards, loss prevention, and MAC’s recycling program, while following Ulta Beauty and MAC policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma is preferred.
Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
Ability to demonstrate significant competency in sales, products, and service.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to handle guest concerns positively and proactively and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to attend brand-sponsored trainings.

Responsibilities

Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and retail shrink.
Build and maintain guest relationships, maintain contact with a growing preferred guest list, and follow up on guest inquiries.
Greet and engage guests, personalize service, offer samples, and recommend complementary products and services.
Conduct professional-caliber makeup demonstrations, applications, and lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations to brand standards.
Study and practice Skill Certification requirements and complete appropriate skill sets within established time frames.
Stay informed about promotions and marketing initiatives and inform guests about them.
Book appointments and support services and in-store events that deliver a strong guest experience and meet sales goals.
Keep informed about industry trends, products, and services, including their ingredients and benefits.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Contribute to an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
Maintain and update an active MAC clientele portfolio.
Represent Ulta Beauty and MAC as a brand ambassador by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, trend information, and MAC programs and philosophies, including Back to MAC.
Maintain relationships with MAC brand partners through required training and participation in events and promotions.
Participate in ongoing brand and category training and professional development.
Collaborate with store managers and associates to help grow the business.
Follow Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards, as well as the Ulta Beauty and MAC dress code.
Keep the assigned work area replenished, signed, and faced; ensure testers are available and maintained according to hygiene standards.
Maintain store and MAC operational standards, including participating in the MAC recycling program and keeping assigned areas clean.
Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory, and shipment processing using provided technology and best practices.
Protect company assets by following loss prevention practices and providing exceptional guest service.
Complete other operational tasks as directed.
