About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a certificated teacher, to assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction and supervision to individuals or small groups of students with disabilities; to perform a variety of instructional support tasks; and to do other related work as required. This position is for the Autism program at HIll ES.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of two (2) years of college (48 semester units) or an Associate's degree.
Passage of the Paraprofessional Assessment (PPA) or equivalent.
Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in an educational setting.
Ability to assist with student behavior management.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Must be able to lift and transfer students as needed.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction and supervision to individuals or small groups of students with disabilities.
Perform a variety of instructional support tasks.
Assist in maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
Help students with daily living skills, including hygiene and feeding.
Implement behavior management plans as directed by the teacher.
Assist with record-keeping and documentation.
Collaborate with the teacher and other staff members.
Participate in staff development and training sessions.
