About The Position

This position is for the 2026-2027 school year. It is a 9-month, 7-hour per day position within the Foundation of Life Skills program, serving as a One-on-One Assistant.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Associate's degree, or 60 college credit hours, or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.
Experience working with students with disabilities.
Ability to assist with personal care needs.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as a teacher assistant.
Experience with life skills instruction.
Knowledge of specific disabilities served in the program.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

Assist the teacher in providing specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities.
Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) under the direction of the teacher.
Provide one-on-one assistance to students, helping them with academic, behavioral, and life skills.
Supervise students in various settings, including the classroom, playground, and during transitions.
Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and classroom organization.
Monitor student progress and behavior, and report observations to the teacher.
Assist with personal care needs of students as required.
Collaborate with the teacher and other school personnel to support student success.
Maintain confidentiality of student information.
Participate in professional development activities as assigned.
