About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a certificated teacher, to assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction and supervision to individuals or small groups of students with special needs; to perform a variety of instructional and non-instructional tasks for students with special needs; and to do other related work as required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Associate's degree or equivalent (60 college credits) or pass the Paraprofessional Assessment.
Experience working with students with special needs.
Ability to assist with personal care needs.
Ability to operate and maintain specialized equipment.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are preferred.
Experience with specific disabilities or special education programs.

Responsibilities

Assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction and supervision to individuals or small groups of students with special needs.
Perform a variety of instructional and non-instructional tasks for students with special needs.
Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Provide academic support and reinforcement to students.
Assist students with personal care needs, including hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, and during field trips.
Operate and maintain specialized equipment and materials.
Maintain records and document student progress.
Communicate with teachers, parents, and other staff regarding student needs and progress.
Participate in staff development and training sessions.
