Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Associate's degree or 60 college credit hours.
One year of experience working with children in an educational or specialized program setting.
Experience with students with autism spectrum disorder.
Ability to assist with physical needs of students, which may include lifting, transferring, and personal care.
Knowledge of basic behavior management techniques.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Completion of all required documents and work history on the application.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Experience with specific therapeutic interventions (e.g., ABA).
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with autism.
Provide direct instructional support to students under the supervision of a certified teacher.
Assist with behavior management strategies and support positive behavior interventions.
Help students with daily living skills, including hygiene, feeding, and mobility.
Supervise students in various settings, including the classroom, playground, and during transitions.
Assist with data collection and record-keeping related to student progress and behavior.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school personnel to support student needs.
Maintain a safe and organized learning environment.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Participate in professional development activities as required.
