About The Position

The State of Connecticut, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is seeking to fill a temporary Specialized Photographer position to work full-time, 5 days (35 hours) per week. This role involves performing complex photographic tasks, including forensic or bio-medical photography, photomacrography, infrared and ultraviolet photography, cinematography, video, and large format camera work. The incumbent will be exposed to disagreeable conditions and biohazards, and must be proficient with computers and software, including Affinity and Microsoft Suite applications. This position requires a valid Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License, willingness to travel in-state, be available for emergency calls, undergo necessary medical tests, and climb ladders for overhead photography. A thorough background investigation will be conducted.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in special photography leading to proficiency in the technical areas described.
  • Proficiency in computers and software, including Affinity and other similar photogenic software.
  • Familiarity using Microsoft Suite applications (Powerpoint, SharePoint).
  • Possession and retention of a current Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
  • In-state travel.
  • Availability for calls on an emergency basis.
  • Willingness to undergo periodic tests or immunizations for communicable diseases, as necessary.
  • Climbing a staircase ladder for overhead photography.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior autopsy photography experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a full range of difficult and complex tasks including forensic or bio-medical photography, photomacrography, infrared and ultraviolet, cinematography, video, large format camera (4x5 or larger), line and continuous tone copying.
  • Operates specialized equipment and uses special materials.
  • Documents and reconstructs submitted evidence.
  • Records crime scenes and areas of civil disturbances.
  • Produces court exhibits and photographic evidence.
  • Maintains computerized photographic and related equipment.
  • May testify as an expert witness.
  • Performs related duties as required.
