About The Position

The Specialized Paraprofessional/Paraeducator assists the classroom teacher in facilitating instruction and managing classroom supervision. The role supports classroom instruction by preparing instructional activities, facilitating small- and whole-class activities, and completing other assigned library duties. The position works under the supervision of the building principal and the direct supervision of the classroom teacher. Performance is evaluated annually based on the job description and district, school, and position-specific goals and objectives. This is a 10-month contract year position at Brunswick Elementary School. The start date is open until filled, and salary is commensurate with experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma and ability to pass the ParaPro assessment to obtain highly qualified status.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree (preferred).
• At least three years of experience working with students in an instructional setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare, plan, and organize lessons and educational programs under the instructor’s guidance.
• Prepare lesson materials, including handouts, worksheets, and exams.
• Assist teachers and classes with instructional activities, including small- and whole-class activities.
• Assist classroom teachers with supervision, observation, grading, and record keeping.
• Help maintain an organized and responsive learning environment.
• Set up displays, bulletin boards, and work areas before lessons.
• Help ensure the health and safety of children.
• Complete clerical duties as needed so the instructor can focus on teaching.
• Assist with or administer student assessments to evaluate progress, strengths, and weaknesses.
• Promote students’ well-being and success.
• Adhere to federal and state laws, school and division policies, and ethical guidelines.
• Set goals to improve knowledge and skills.
• Work collegially and collaboratively with the classroom instructor, administrators, students, parents, other school personnel, and the community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
