About The Position

This position is for a Specialized Instructional Assistant within the Developmental Learning Program (DLP) at the middle school level. The role is part of the Department of Special Education and reports to the Building Principal, Evaluation Team Supervisor for the DLP, and the Director of Special Education, while working under the direction of the DLP Lead Teacher. The position is non-exempt and falls under the Paraprofessional Staff category, with benefits governed by the LEA Unit C collective bargaining agreement. The start date is August 31, 2026, with a 35-hour work week. The salary range is $33.03 - $36.46 per hour, with potential for change based on FY26 salary scale negotiations. Requirements

  • Highly qualified as a Paraprofessional according to DESE standards
  • Willing and able to physically manage students if needed
  • Comfort and familiarity with intellectual and neurological disabilities needed
  • Ability to work in collaboration with a team
  • Flexibility in day-to-day work tasks
  • Experience and commitment to working in a racially and culturally diverse teaching and learning community

Nice To Haves

  • BS or BA
  • Classroom experience at the middle school level preferred

Responsibilities

  • Tutor individual students under the direction of academic staff
  • Support students in DLP and mainstream academic classes
  • Facilitate implementation of strategies and interventions to address the student’s academic and physical needs
  • Implement social/emotional intervention plans as developed by team
  • Implement behavioral intervention plans as developed by team
  • Provide coverage for staff
  • Communicate with staff regarding student’s progress
  • Diligently collect student data
  • Obtain and maintain a Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification
  • Attend staff meetings, community meetings, and other staff/student activities, as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Contribute to a positive and productive environment within the program
