About The Position

The Specialist will support the Laboratory Medicine Point of Care Testing (POCT) program by interpreting and implementing accreditation and regulatory standards specific to point of care environments, and translating these requirements into policies, procedures, and operational practices across all sites. They will identify gaps, support corrective actions, and ensure compliance within diverse clinical settings, including rural and acute, primary and continuing care environments. Working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, the Specialist will promote standardized processes and consistent best practices in point of care testing services province-wide. The Specialist provides leadership, technical expertise, and operational support to all healthcare providers performing POCT. This includes oversight of quality control programs, competency assessment, instrument validation and implementation, occurrence management, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience in a related area
  • Medical Laboratory Technology diploma (MLT)
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in professional clinical field
  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable
