About The Position

Designs, delivers, and evaluates high-quality safety technical training programs for electrical utility professionals, strengthening workforce competency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and reducing operational and safety risks across the organization. Serves as a Subject Matter Expert responsible for defining, reviewing and approving technical safety training, and curriculum, ensuring alignment with applicable policies and regulations, and driving high-quality technical skill development for training participants. Designs and develops high-quality training materials, including presentations, job manuals, job aids, learning content, and field guides to ensure trainees effectively master required competencies. Partners with departmental leadership teams to support targeted training and retraining initiatives, ensuring alignment with business unit objectives, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements. Collaborates with external vendors to coordinate and deliver specialized Safety, Health, Environmental, and Technical Training, while also identifying internal subject matter experts and preparing them to serve as company instructors through structured TraintheTrainer programs. Plans and schedules training sessions by coordinating classroom space, equipment availability, instructor resources, and operational constraints, resulting in smooth program delivery and minimal disruptions to operational workflows. Identifies and evaluates organizational training needs and skill gaps through assessments, observations, audits, and feedback, and develops targeted Technical Safety training content to address those gaps. Monitors compliance, evaluates process effectiveness, and tracks best practices and emerging trends in Safety, Health, Environmental, and Technical Training to ensure alignment with policies and regulations, while integrating new methodologies to drive continuous improvement. Delivers HSEQ related training programs, to identified stakeholders adjusting delivery methods based on audience, risk level, and operational requirements training to enhance understanding and adoption of best practices. Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations. Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services. Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Requirements

  • Valid Journeyman Power Lineworker Certificate or recognized equivalent or related discipline.
  • 5 years' experience in a Power Lineworker position.
  • Experience in utility operations as a journey-level worker with general technical exposure to substation environments and working knowledge of transmission, distribution and underground systems.
  • Hold OSHA, CPR, First Aid certifications or complete training within the first 90 days.
  • Valid Puerto Rico driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working as a Foreman is preferred.
  • Experience in managing Health & Safety compliance is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in: electrical utility operations performing leadership functions in substations, lines, URD similar role within an apprenticeship program or technical training environment performing comparable responsibilities.
  • safety technical advisor or specialist with experience in technical training programs development and execution, accompanied by OSHA and/or safety practices standards.
  • certification (e.g. OSHA 10, OSHA 30)
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
