About The Position

Hammond Power Solutions Inc. (HPS) is a global manufacturer headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and a leader in North America for the custom design and manufacture of dry type transformers. For the past century, HPS has delivered electrical power solutions to global markets for complex applications in mining, rectifier, drives, traction, wind, solar, and more. The world relies on HPS to continually conceive and produce state-of-the-art transformer technology. We currently have an opening for a Specialist, Supply Chain Sustainability. Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, the Specialist, Supply Chain Sustainability will lead the development and implementation of Supply Chain management sustainability strategies and initiatives. The role will support the implementation of HPS's Responsible Supply Chain Standard and related projects. With a specific focus on engaging key stakeholders, evaluating Supply Chain sustainability challenges, ensuring compliance and reporting on Supply Chain sustainability performance as it relates to Environmental, Social and Governance performance.

Requirements

  • A completed degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Supply Chain or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in policy creation and training with well versed project management skills
  • Detailed understanding of environmental and social impacts in the Supply Chain
  • Knowledge of tools, data management trends and methodologies regarding sustainability monitoring and decision support management
  • Ability to work in a virtual global team environment that contributes to the overall timely delivery of multiple projects.
  • Willingness to travel to sites/supplier locations across North America as required.
  • Act as a trusted knowledge source at both the strategic level and the detailed level.
  • Experience researching and analysing data to help develop targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for sustainable Supply Chain, including assessment of performance against KPIs.
  • Ability to support the on-going implementation of HPS's Responsible Supply Chain Standard, including training, and supplier evaluations.
  • Remaining current on sustainable Supply Chain trends and best practices.
  • Experience assisting supplier engagement and communication programs to raise awareness, build capacity, and foster collaboration on sustainability issues and best practices.
  • Previous experience supporting internal and external sustainability reporting and disclosure requirements.
  • Proven ability to engage with internal stakeholders to ensure that environmental performance standards are incorporated in our purchasing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and report on sustainability data and metrics, such as supplier human rights (including conflict minerals), supplier climate and environmental impacts. Provide input for sustainability reporting, external ESG ratings, and Modern Slavery Legislation.
  • Ensure Sales has access to all necessary supplier certificates by acting as the liaison between Engineering and the Buying team on chemical product compliance (REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, PFAS).
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the supply chain is compliant with labour and human rights standards as set by HPS and globally.
  • Conduct sustainability assessments and audits of suppliers and Supply Chain processes and follow up on corrective actions and improvement plans jointly with the Commodity management team lead.
  • Using the supplied tools to monitor and evaluate sustainability trends, risks, and opportunities in the Supply Chain, and provide recommendations, insights to enhance sustainability performance/innovation and ensure compliance.
