Specialist, Software Engineer (Full Stack)
About The Position
Nationwide's Technology team is seeking a highly motivated and skilled developer for the Retirement Solutions Technology team, specifically for the RSC and DCdirect / RPLink applications supporting the Retirement Solutions Line of Business. This role involves working with modern web technologies, APIs, and Java, with a focus on cloud-native platforms and secure coding practices. The position requires effective communication and collaboration within the team, across teams, and departments. The role will operate on a hybrid schedule, requiring presence in the Columbus, Ohio office on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Requirements
- Proficient in Java, JavaScript, Angular, RESTful API, and Apigee
- Experienced in the use of AI tools like Github Copilot
- Experienced in using Github Version Control
- Experienced in SQL
- Experienced in Kubernetes - Rancher
- Experienced in Cloud Native Platform
- Experienced working in an Agile team and have DevSecOps knowledge
- Strong in communication, people, and negotiation skills
- Passionate to learn and keep up with technology trends
- Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
- Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
- Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
- Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle.
- Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment.

- Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Responsibilities
- Participating in the delivery of quality solutions

- Troubleshooting complex software development problems and providing effective solutions
- Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.
- Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
- Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
- Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
- Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
