About The Position

This role is responsible for facilitating patient flow from check-in through check-out, verifying insurance coverage, updating patient demographics, and scheduling patient appointments. The Specialist-Registration I will communicate effectively with patients, team members, referring offices, and the SPA team. They will obtain accurate financial and demographic information to support reimbursement and patient care, explain department and hospital policies, charges, and payment requirements, and enter charges into applicable systems and collect payments as needed. The role also involves answering incoming calls and directing patients and visitors appropriately. The position requires onsite training initially and will transition to a remote work arrangement, with candidates needing to reside in Indiana. Key benchmarks include independently scheduling appointments within 3 months, managing pool messages within 6 months, and being fully functional across all 10 elements of the role within 12 months. The onboarding and training process includes two weeks of department standard work training and competency validation in Cerner, scheduling workflows, web-based learning modules, and Oracle.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to learn and retain medical coding; ICD-10; CPT coding preferred.
  • Requires ability to interpret insurance information; knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology preferred.
  • Candidates must reside in Indiana.

  • Prefer relevant experience in a health care setting.

  • Ability to learn and retain ICD-10 and CPT coding concepts
