About The Position

The Specialist, Pursuits leads high-stakes proposal processes from intake through submission, delivering compelling, client-centered narratives under demanding timelines. Operating at the intersection of strategic writing, stakeholder management, and project coordination, this role works directly with lawyers, leaders and the broader Clients and Markets Team to craft winning proposals that advance the firm's client retention and business growth objectives. The role demands a unique combination of strategic agility, persuasive writing expertise and political savvy to simultaneously manage multiple complex proposals while navigating time-constrained stakeholders across the firm.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Writing, Journalism or English.
  • 3 - 5 years of proposal writing experience in a fast-paced professional services environment with proven track record of meeting demanding deadlines.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong project management and multi-stakeholder coordination capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent proposals under compressed timelines.
  • Proficiency in AI writing tools.
  • Knowledge of legal services marketing and business development practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-graduate degree or professional development in business development, marketing or legal services.
  • Experience within a legal services is preferred.
  • APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) certification considered an asset.
  • French written and oral communication is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead time-sensitive RFPs and proposals through the full lifecycle from intake to submission and follow-up.
  • Analyze proposal requirements rapidly to recommend go/no-go decisions with strategic rationale.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to develop customized, client-centered responses within compressed timelines.
  • Organize debriefs on wins and losses and summarize outcomes for distribution.
  • Ensure all opportunities are fully tracked, centralized and reported.
  • Write persuasive executive summaries and proposal content that clearly articulate BLG's value proposition.
  • Synthesize complex legal information into compelling narratives that resonate with client needs.
  • Refine multi-contributor content into cohesive, high-quality submissions that maintain brand and tone.
  • Collaborate with creative teams to amplify written submissions with relevant visual elements.
  • Drive proposal workflows through efficient, deadline-driven project management frameworks.
  • Create and manage project timelines that balance stakeholder constraints.
  • Implement agile processes to gather input efficiently from lawyers and business services teams.
  • Anticipate and proactively mitigate potential delays and bottlenecks before they impact submission quality.
  • Maintain comprehensive tracking and reporting systems for proposal outcomes and performance metrics.
  • Centralize win/loss insights from debriefs, identify best practices that enhance the Pursuits Team's capabilities, and contribute to internal reporting for leadership and strategic decision-making.
  • Build trust with lawyers and leadership through consistent, reliable execution and strategic insight.
  • Navigate complex stakeholder dynamics with confidence, diplomacy and emotional intelligence.
  • Liaise with clients to clarify requirements and identify opportunities for differentiated responses.
  • Contribute actively to the broader Clients and Markets Team as a collaborative thought partner.
