The Specialist, Public Health Operations, reporting to the Manager, Public Health Operations, supports the delivery, execution, and continuous improvement of public health programs aimed at protecting populations from environmental and communicable disease risks. Working in close partnership with Destination Public Health stakeholders, Fleet Public Health Officers (FPHOs), Public Health Officers (PHOs), and shoreside operators, the role ensures the consistent operational application of public health standards and compliance activities and supports the timely resolution of operational and regulatory issues. The Specialist contributes to the development and delivery of training programs for Destination staff, FPHOs and PHOs and supports their technical assessment and performance evaluation. Additionally, the role involves collecting, reviewing, and analyzing, public health data and incidents to identify trends and, in collaboration with management, implementing solutions that mitigate risk, enhance compliance, operational effectiveness, and overall program performance. The Public Health Specialist also supports agile responses to public health events and operational needs—including disease outbreaks, destination development, new builds, and refits—which may require travel to destinations and vessels. Leveraging subject matter expertise, the role plays a key part in aligning, strengthening, and standardizing public health policies, programs, and operational practices across the organization.
