About The Position

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Environmental Public Health Specialist. This role will monitor regulated facilities for compliance with local, state, and federal public health/environmental laws. The position will investigate complaints related to environmental hazards and infectious agents and educate stakeholders on regulations as they apply to their facility using the latest scientific knowledge. The specialist will also engage community partners in developing policies and procedures to utilize resources to protect the public's health. This position has an option to be underfilled as an Environmental Public Health Technician.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in one of the physical or natural sciences.
  • Degree must include an algebra course or higher level math and 30 semester hours in basic sciences.
  • Two years of professional work experience in the environmental or public health field.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years direct teaching experience in a natural sciences, environmental health or public health discipline.
  • Depending upon assignment, incumbent may be required to obtain Missouri Environmental Health Specialist credential within first 30 months of employment.
