About The Position

The Specialist, Procurement is responsible for executing procurement activities in support of defense and aerospace programs, including the acquisition of raw materials, components, assemblies, equipment, and services necessary to meet program, production, and customer requirements. This role applies professional procurement knowledge to support supplier selection, pricing analysis, purchase order administration, and supplier performance management while ensuring alignment with quality, cost, delivery, and compliance objectives. The position works under general supervision and contributes to operational and program success through effective sourcing, issue resolution, and continuous process improvement. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant procurement experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related procurement experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related procurement experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirements.
  • Experience procuring electronic components, mechanical parts, complex assemblies, or specialized services.
  • Familiarity with supplier performance management, cost analysis, and schedule risk mitigation.
  • Experience supporting engineering change activity, configuration changes, and material returns.
  • Working knowledge of export compliance considerations, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Experience using material requirements planning or enterprise resource planning tools in a production or program environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes procurement activities for raw materials, components, equipment, and services in support of defense and aerospace program requirements.
  • Solicits, reviews, and analyzes supplier quotations, proposals, and bids to support sourcing decisions and cost objectives.
  • Negotiates pricing, terms and conditions, and delivery commitments in accordance with company policies and program requirements.
  • Issues and administers purchase orders through completion, including management of acknowledgements, deliveries, invoice discrepancies, and order closeout.
  • Evaluates supplier capability, performance, and risk related to quality, cost, schedule, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders including engineering, manufacturing, quality, program management, and finance to ensure procurement actions support technical and contractual requirements.
  • Resolves supplier-related issues involving shortages, damages, returns, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering or configuration changes.
  • Maintains accurate procurement records and supports audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Reviews market conditions, supplier trends, and pricing data to recommend sourcing strategies and process improvements.
  • Ensures procurement activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contractual requirements, anti-corruption standards, and ethical business practices.
  • May provide guidance, coaching, or day-to-day support to less experienced employees within the job area.
