About The Position

Within the operation and Security Management team, the Specialist will support the National Security team in all their initiatives, working independently towards significant deliverables using expertise in security and threat management. Technology & Infrastructure (T&I) is the backbone and the future-forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. Our purpose is to constantly innovate to evolve and maintain the Corporation’s technology and infrastructure. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between. This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Requirements

  • University degree in Security Management, Policing, or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in Security Management, including major events and intelligence gathering/analysis.
  • Bilingual (French and English) with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel; possible weekend work during crisis situations.
  • Ability to function effectively in a highly complex, diverse, and sometimes ambiguous work environment.
  • Problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of management and unionized staff.
  • Ability to deal with people in crisis.
  • Support Project Management process (timeslines/budgets/contractor/stakeholders).
  • Support System Integration Initiatives (Access Control, Intrusion, CCTV, Intercom).
  • Support awareness / training campaigns.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
  • A mandatory Criminal record check.
  • Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reporting, analytical support, and support the delivery of security measures and security infrastructure management programs.
  • Monitor and respond to security correspondence and concerns from staff (threat email screening/triage).
  • Supervise on-site security personnel.
  • Implement and oversee elements of security projects.
  • Document management.
  • Investigate crimes and threats against the corporation.
  • Support special event risk evaluations (e.g., award shows, galas, TV shows).
  • Support the development and deployment of security awareness material.
  • Support corporate fire safety/prevention initiatives.
  • Support security audits.
  • Support incident metrics/trending.
