About The Position

Ensures the reliability, stability, and performance of the organization’s Wide Area Network by monitoring, provisioning, and responding to issues across the telecom backbone and critical operational systems. This role supports continuous operations by quickly resolving network disruptions, maintaining infrastructure health, and coordinating with technical teams to protect essential services.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC), telecom operations, or network support role
  • Hands‑on experience monitoring and troubleshooting LAN/WAN environments, IP networks, and telecom backbone systems
  • Experience working with telecom carrier technologies such as microwave radio, fiber transport, TDM, SONET, and MPLS
  • Prior experience coordinating with field technicians and working within incident, change, and ticketing systems
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, 24/7 operational environments is preferred
  • Proficiency in Windows Server 2016, Windows 10, LAN/WAN networking, TDM, SONET, MPLS, and telecom carrier equipment
  • Strong network monitoring and diagnostic skills
  • Expertise in troubleshooting IP‑based services and complex network environments
  • Incident management and prioritization skills
  • Clear communication and customer support capabilities
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities
  • Experience with documentation and reporting

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, reviews, and resolves network alarms and connectivity issues to maintain high network reliability and service continuity.
  • Monitors telecom backbone equipment across telecom sites, substations, control centers, and data centers to ensure stable and secure network operations.
  • Monitor network traffic, prioritizes incidents, and directs Telecom field technicians to faults to restore service in a timely manner.
  • Provisions new circuits for substations, SCADA systems, corporate data, voice services, and teleprotection to support operational and business requirements.
  • Monitors carrier services, including microwave radio and fiber links, to verify functionality and provide reporting that ensures carrier performance compliance.
  • Ensures redundancy and route diversity across critical systems and applications to safeguard against single‑point failures.
  • Troubleshoots IP services and networks to identify root causes and implement corrective actions that improve network performance.
  • Monitors company networks proactively and responds to operational issues to uphold network availability.
  • Announces service schedules to network users to support transparent communication and minimize operational impact.
  • Creates operational and performance reporting to support management visibility and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.
  • Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.
  • Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.
