About The Position

L3Harris’ Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Specialist Systems Engineer to join our dynamic, collaborative networking team. This position will be based at our Salt Lake City facility. Their role will require System Engineering life cycle tasks including requirements management, design support, reviews, test development, installation, testing, and on call support for 24/7 operational system. The Specialist, Systems Engineer will be responsible for the life-cycle support of protected SATCOM data link systems from conceptual development through product phase-out. This includes proposal support, requirements analysis and management, task planning, technical documentation, design oversight participation, design synthesis in a multi-functional engineering environment, build and test support, subcontract control, risk management input, integration and verification test support, system deployment support and in-house technical support during the operational life-cycle of the system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret (SCI) security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with configuring Cisco routers & switches.
  • Experience working with SATCOM ground infrastructure.
  • Experience with DOORS for requirement management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio for drawing development and management.
  • Experience developing and executing system wide testing.
  • Experience with network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE).
  • Professional certification specific to the networking industry such as CCNA or equivalent.
  • Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection.
  • Experience working with SATCOM data links, particularly the ground RF, MODEM, and data interface.
  • Understanding network security features like IP access-lists, stateful protocol inspections, and Next-Gen firewalls.
  • Ability to communicate well, including proficiency with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Familiar with Windows, Linux, VMWare, and container configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Presentation and communication skills (verbal/written/visual).
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to meet critical quarterly deadlines.
