About The Position

The Specialist, Music instructs students in music theory, performance, and appreciation while integrating music with other academic disciplines. The role provides opportunities for students to showcase their talents through performances and programs. The position works under direct supervision while coordinating music instruction and program activities. Work is performed primarily in classroom and performance environments. This is a non-exempt position.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills in planning and managing music instruction and performances, and maintaining program records and documentation.
Knowledge of music theory and appreciation and stages of child development.
Ability to teach music concepts to elementary students, lead student performances and activities, and communicate effectively with students and staff.

Nice To Haves

Music instruction experience is desired.
K-6 Music endorsement.

Responsibilities

Provide weekly music instruction aligned with district curriculum.
Develop engaging music lessons that encourage student participation and creativity.
Collaborate with teachers to integrate music with classroom instruction.
Prepare students for performances, including concerts and school programs.
Maintain musical instruments and audio equipment.
Monitor students to ensure a safe learning environment.
Prepare lesson plans, documentation, and program records.
Organize and manage classroom materials and supplies.
Promote music programs through performances and school events.
Research and apply for grants to support music programs.
Participate in meetings and professional development activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
