About The Position

The Specialist, Member Sales & Engagement plays an important role within ACP's Member Relations team, managing a portfolio of prospective and current members and leading recruitment, engagement, and renewal efforts across this portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Director, this role connects ACP's advocacy and policy priorities to member and prospect engagement, ensuring current and prospective members understand the value of participation in advancing the clean energy industry's goals. Working cross-functionally with the Policy, Advocacy, and Research Departments, the Specialist assists in implementing ACP's engagement framework, tracks portfolio trends, flags retention risks, and proactively identifies opportunities for upgrades or new memberships through a consultative sales approach. The role is well-suited for an early-career sales or trade association professional who is excited to deliver ACP’s best-in-class member benefits to their assigned portfolio. The individual should thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment with a highly nimble team and demonstrate creative problem-solving in response to member and prospect questions and concerns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, political science, communications, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in membership sales, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, business development, or related work, preferably within a trade association, advocacy organization, or mission-driven nonprofit.
  • Experience supporting a sales or membership portfolio that contributes to organizational revenue or fundraising goals.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with experience developing professional, trust-based relationships with external stakeholders, member contacts, and partner organizations.
  • Experience supporting revenue forecasting and pipeline management with comfort using CRM tools and data to assess trends and inform strategy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for various audiences.
  • Collaborative and adaptable approach, with demonstrated experience working cross-functionally across teams to deliver shared outcomes.
  • Professional judgment and awareness, with an ability to navigate stakeholder dynamics and escalate complex or sensitive situations appropriately.
  • Passion for the clean energy transition and enthusiasm for representing an industry advancing America’s economic, environmental, and national security goals.
  • Ability to travel up to 5–6 times per year to attend conferences and events, as needed.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of members and prospects with direction and guidance from the Senior Director, helping to drive new membership sales, renewals, and upgrades.
  • Respond to and manage inbound membership inquiries, develop relationships with prospective members, and communicate ACP’s value proposition clearly and effectively.
  • Support the development and delivery of clear, value-driven member communications that connect ACP’s advocacy and policy achievements to member participation and engagement.
  • Support the identification of prospective members and upgrade opportunities through member meetings and in-person events, and flagging insights to the Senior Director.
  • Engage with stakeholders at events and conferences on behalf of ACP and the Member Relations team to strengthen relationships and advance organizational priorities.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date membership revenue, renewal, and pipeline data, ensuring data integrity for reporting and outreach.
  • Prepare for member calls and meetings by researching member profiles, participation history, and relevant policy developments; document outcomes and follow-up actions.
  • Execute member engagement activities within an established framework, with the goal of deepening relationships, supporting retention, and delivering a high-value experience across the assigned portfolio.
  • Support the onboarding of new members by coordinating welcome communications, orienting them to ACP’s resources and committees, and facilitating early engagement touchpoints.
  • Coordinate with Events, Policy, and Research teams to ensure member inquiries are handled accurately and efficiently.
  • Draft member-facing communications, outreach emails, renewal notices, and engagement updates that reflect ACP’s value proposition and current advocacy priorities.
  • Monitor participation and engagement data to identify retention risks, under-engaged members, and growth opportunities.
  • Collect and process member dues for assigned portfolios, ensuring timely renewals, accurate tracking, and coordination with internal teams as needed.
  • Provide insights, feedback, and recommendations to the Senior Director on member trends, engagement health, and process improvements that support both member satisfaction and revenue performance.
  • Provide support to the department when needed through ad hoc duties as assigned.
