About The Position

Within our Human Resources team, the HR Advisor – Medical Absence serves as the first point of contact for managing medical absence cases. This role plays a key part in shaping the employee experience by applying established policies and processes while delivering thoughtful, consistent, and people‑centred support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant HR experience, ideally in HR operations, benefits administration, or absence management.
  • Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written) to effectively collaborate with employees and stakeholders across Canada.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with HR systems and Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day‑to‑day management of medical absence cases (short‑ and long‑term disability, medical leaves, accommodations) in alignment with established policies and procedures.
  • Guide employees throughout their medical absence journey by clearly explaining steps, timelines, and required documentation.
  • Coordinate with payroll, insurance providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and continuity of case management.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date HR data within systems and tools.
  • Identify situations requiring escalation and refer complex cases to appropriate HR partners.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, tools, and documentation related to medical absence management.
