About The Position

L3Harris is hiring a Specialist, Mechanical Engineer (Mechanisms) to design and qualify precision mechanisms used in mission systems for complex, high-consequence environments. The role owns major components and subsystems from early concept through integration and test, supporting dependable capabilities for customers and their missions. This is an on-site position at one of the following locations: Palm Bay, Florida; Chantilly, Virginia; or Carlsbad, California. Work includes direct laboratory, prototype, integration, and hardware-testing activities. The schedule is 9/80: employees work nine days in every 14-day period, totaling 80 hours, with every other Friday off. The position may also support field-test or demonstration activities as needed. The engineer leads mechanical design, analysis, prototype integration, and qualification testing for precision mechanisms and electromechanical hardware. Responsibilities include developing models, drawings, technical data packages, and assembly documentation; evaluating materials and design tradeoffs; planning and conducting tests; presenting at internal and customer reviews; and collaborating with cross-functional teams to transition designs into production. An active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance is required; clearance active within the last two years will be considered.

Requirements
