About The Position

This role involves inspecting fresh shipments of beef and pork into the warehouse to ensure quality, freshness, and adherence to specifications regarding weights and dates. The Specialist II will perform quality control inspections, daily date and rotation checks, and inspect returned merchandise from member stores. This position also assists merchandising and buyers with maintaining accurate inventory, product quality, and proper rotation and slotting within the warehouse. The role acts as a liaison between meat merchandising and the warehouse, and requires organizing and maintaining accurate record-keeping systems, including HACCP records.

Requirements

  • Experience in inspecting fresh shipments for quality, freshness, and weights/dates.
  • Ability to perform quality control inspections on fresh beef and pork.
  • Proficiency in performing daily date and rotation checks on fresh meat.
  • Skill in inspecting returned merchandise and ensuring proper disposition.
  • Experience assisting with maintaining dates, inventory accuracy, and quality specifications.
  • Ability to help vendors with date checks and disposition of short-dated product.
  • Experience assisting with product rotation and slotting.
  • Liaison skills between departments.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of HACCP record-keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect fresh shipments for quality, freshness, and weights/dates.
  • Perform quality control inspections on fresh beef and pork to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Perform daily date and rotation checks on fresh meat.
  • Inspect all merchandise returned by member stores and ensure proper disposition.
  • Assist merchandising in maintaining dates, inventory accuracy, and quality specifications for incoming products.
  • Help vendors with weekly date checks and disposition of short-dated product.
  • Assist buyers in maintaining proper rotation and accurate slotting in the warehouse.
  • Act as a liaison between meat merchandising and the warehouse.
  • Organize and maintain an accurate and up-to-date record-keeping system.
  • Keep HACCP records up to date.
