About The Position

Ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support core organizational functions by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networking systems and associated operating systems. This role involves managing routers, switches, VLANs, dedicated circuits, VPNs, firewalls, and backup devices. The Specialist II will design and manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, power management, security, LAN, WAN, and disaster recovery systems. They will provide remote/on-site support for escalated issues, troubleshoot LAN and WAN problems using a scientific methodology, and assist in the design, architecture, and maintenance of corporate LAN, WAN, and security systems to ensure best practices and minimize downtime. The position is responsible for the day-to-day operation, reliability, and integrity of the enterprise network, including the installation, maintenance, and management of network equipment and diagnostic tools. Additionally, the role ensures system connectivity, creates and maintains network documentation, ensures compatibility and interoperability of networking systems, coordinates system tests, and monitors system performance, delivering relevant reports.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years’ experience with firewall systems (Security Policy, Mobile Access, IPSEC, & SSL VPN) (Cisco ASA, Checkpoint, or Palo Alto).
  • Experience with Switches, Routers, LAN, WAN, VPN, DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP, QoS, BGP, OSPF, wireless, PPP, MPLS.
  • Knowledge of Design, implementation, and maintenance of solutions, systems, and applications such as SolarWinds Orion or equivalent, AWS (Amazon Web Services), Directory Services -- Microsoft Active Directory, DNS and DHCP; VMware; diagramming and documentation tools, such as Microsoft Visio; applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining documentation as it relates to network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Ensuring compatibility and interoperability of in-house networking systems.
  • Coordinating and performing in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
  • Monitoring and testing system performance; preparing and delivering system performance statistics and reports.
  • Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
