About The Position

The Specialist II, Dual Credit Engagement provides direct support to the dual credit program by offering outreach to dual credit students and parents. This role collaborates with various stakeholders, including high school administrators, counselors, teachers, staff, parents, and students. The position requires an understanding of college departments and their relationship to the dual credit program. The role involves working independently and as part of a team, with primary hours in the morning and afternoon, and occasional evenings and weekends, totaling approximately 28 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a higher education and/or K-12 environment.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently within changing deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze and address the educational and personal needs of student.
  • Proficient with computers and database related software.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach services to constituent K-12 schools and career centers participating in the dual credit program.
  • Conduct classroom and institute day visits and provide informational and promotional materials for these events as needed.
  • Assist high schools with the application process and post application procedures as needed.
  • Develop and implement parent and student orientations.
  • Communicate dual credit policies and information to parents, students, high school counselors and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist students and high school contacts in resolving application, registration, and enrollment issues in a timely manner.
  • Deliver presentations at district high schools, college fairs, career centers and on campus events to support and promote dual credit.
  • Work with high schools and career centers marketing offices to promote JJC and the dual credit program.
  • Assist Office of Dual Credit with general office operations, application processing and registration related duties.
  • Attend meetings as assigned, including the Dual Credit Advisory Board meetings.
  • Prepare summary notes for meetings.
  • Be familiar with and remain informed of the guidelines for dual credit from the Higher Learning Commission and the Illinois Community College Board, including the Dual Credit Quality Act and other related legislation.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
