About The Position

We’re hiring a permanent, full-time Specialist, HR Analytics based in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Associate Director, Systems & Analytics, you’ll play a key role in supporting People & Culture through data governance, reporting, and analytics. As the Specialist, HR Analytics, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, consistency, and effective use of People & Culture data. You will work with stakeholders across EPCOR to assess data needs, design reporting solutions, and develop dashboards and insights that support decision-making. This role requires strong analytical expertise, experience working with enterprise HR systems and data structures, and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful, actionable insights.

Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a large corporate environment delivering analytics, reporting, and dashboards.
  • Experience working with enterprise HRIS platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud, SAP SuccessFactors, Workday).
  • Experience working with HR data structures, metrics, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience translating business requirements into data models and reporting solutions.
  • Experience supporting data governance, data quality, and strong documentation practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with modern BI and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, advanced Excel) to develop data models, dashboards, and reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working with large datasets and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data and reporting issues using system and data knowledge.
  • Ability to translate the needs of stakeholders into clear and understandable reporting and analytics outputs.
  • Strong communication and consulting skills, with the ability to effectively present complex data to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • At least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada (a copy of a valid work permit may be required).
  • Clearance on all applicable background checks (which may include criminal, identity, educational, and/or credit) and professional reference checks is required.
  • Successful applicants must provide their own vehicles with appropriate insurance in accordance with EPCOR’s Employee Mileage Reimbursement Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with workforce analytics, forecasting, or predictive modeling.
  • Experience with data governance tools, data dictionaries, and metadata management.
  • Experience with ERP implementations, particularly Oracle Cloud Fusion.
  • Experience with AI-enabled analytics tools.
  • Working knowledge of Python or R for data analysis.
  • Exposure to enterprise data platforms or cloud-based analytics environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provides input to Systems & Analytics plans and People & Culture strategies, partnering with stakeholders to assess business needs and define data requirements while ensuring adherence to data governance standards and maintaining strong data integrity across People & Culture systems.
  • Builds and maintains structured data models, dashboards, and reports, consolidating multiple data sources into well‑documented datasets and automating data workflows to improve accuracy, efficiency, and standardization.
  • Performs data analysis to support People & Culture initiatives and workforce metrics, translating complex data into clear, user‑friendly insights, reporting outputs, and visualizations for diverse audiences.
  • Maintains and enhances reporting solutions while evaluating and implementing new and emerging analytics tools, supporting the implementation of a new ERP and leading related reporting design and testing (e.g., UAT), as well as staying current with analytics technologies to recommend ongoing improvements.
  • Troubleshoots data and reporting issues, conducts root‑cause analysis, and coordinates resolution with internal partners (e.g., IT).
  • Develops training materials and supports end users in understanding, interpreting, and effectively using analytics tools and reporting outputs.
  • Leads and contributes to cross‑functional People & Culture data and analytics projects, identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities across data management, reporting processes, and analytics tools.
  • Automates and optimizes data management processes to improve accuracy, efficiency and standardization
