Under the supervision of the assigned family engagement coordinator, the family services specialist is responsible for providing quality health and social services to Head Start children and families according to Head Start guidelines. This role involves implementing ERSEA policies, assisting families with applications and documentation, conducting family assessments through home visits, making referrals to community resources, and maintaining regular contact with families. The specialist will also set up and maintain child and family records, manage a caseload, and ensure timely submission of required reports. Additionally, the role includes conducting recruitment activities, registering and enrolling children, monitoring attendance, participating in staff and parent meetings, and providing information and assistance for dental and physical screenings. The specialist will also conduct and assist with health screenings, maintain health records, and keep community resource files current. Transportation for appointments and other duties as assigned are also part of the role.
