About The Position

This is a 12-month fixed-term role focused on environmental compliance, audits, and continuous improvement at a large-scale industrial site. The position supports environmental performance across smelter operations by strengthening compliance, driving continuous improvement, and building awareness of environmental requirements within operational teams. It offers broad exposure within a complex industrial setting and valuable experience. The role is based in Kitimat, BC, a community with short commutes and access to outdoor activities. Relocation support is available for eligible candidates.

Requirements

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Post-secondary qualification in an environmental discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in environmental compliance, monitoring, data analysis, and regulatory reporting within an industrial or operational setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and generate clear insights using tools such as Excel.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across operations and functions.
  • A valid driver’s licence (minimum Class 7 in British Columbia or equivalent).
  • Ability to work in an operational environment, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and a respirator, and conducting site inspections that may involve walking extended distances, climbing stairs and ladders, and accessing industrial areas.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by following site standards and actively contributing to a safe, respectful, and risk-aware work environment.
  • Partner closely with operational teams to provide practical guidance on environmental requirements and support day-to-day decision making.
  • Lead and support environmental audits and field verification activities, identifying gaps and driving follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring and sampling programs to ensure consistent and high-quality data collection.
  • Analyze and report on environmental performance, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulatory requirements, and clear insights for the business.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of environmental standards, procedures, and management systems.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including contractors and technical specialists.
