About The Position

The Engineering Systems Specialist – Electrical works within the Quality Engineering department at the Honda Canada National Office (HCI). The foremost responsibility of this position is to drive continuous quality improvement for the Canadian automotive market. As a specialist in electrical components and systems, this role primarily focuses on areas such as control modules, wiring harnesses, motorized components, switches/controls, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), cameras, radars, HVAC, etc.

Requirements

  • University Degree - Engineering, preferably in Automotive, Electrical, Mechanical, or System Design.
  • 3 years of automotive or related experience combined with strong project management capability.
  • Skilled in analyzing parts for the purpose of determining cause of failure.
  • Understanding of core electrical principles, with ability to perform basic electrical troubleshooting including understanding of electrical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical architectures (12V systems and high-voltage EV systems)
  • Familiarity with governing principles of HVAC, and knowledge of vehicle components related to heating and air conditioning.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with vehicle repair/problem diagnosis from prior work experience.
  • Proven interest and ability to learn new vehicle technologies.
  • Self-starter, able to build collaborative relationships with external teams and use effective communication techniques to report and resolve quality issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience in preparing technical documents.
  • Experience in MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organization, and strategic skills.
  • Valid ‘G’ driver’s license required.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.
  • Willing and able to work overtime on short notice.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with all members of the team.
  • Develop, establish, and maintain good working relationships with external suppliers, partners, consultants, stakeholders and other network contacts.
  • Enjoys team-building approach of management and department.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering designation or eligibility in the province of Ontario is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market data analysis to define and prioritize commonly occurring quality issues.
  • Perform technical investigations on failed parts or vehicle systems to identify root cause.
  • Develop test plans to replicate real-world vehicle usage conditions within a controlled environment.
  • Use appropriate measurement equipment to quantify vehicle performance and compare it to acceptable specifications.
  • Coordinate and perform field visits as necessary for technical investigations.
  • Generate technical reports to communicate Canadian quality issues and investigation findings to other departments within Honda.
  • Work collectively with external departments (R&D, factories, etc.) to ensure progress of countermeasure activities.
  • Validate quality improvement countermeasures to judge overall effectiveness.
  • Generate technical service publications for dealers, outlining new and revised repair procedures.
  • Provide technical support as needed to other groups within Honda Canada including Tech Line, Field Engineering Specialists, Customer Relations, Product Planning, Publications, Sales, Advertising, Training, and Legal.
  • Occasionally assist investigations in other vehicle categories (engine, chassis, interior, exterior, infotainment) as required.

Benefits

  • The salary range for this position is $87,300- $109,100 CAD annually.
