About The Position

Volvo Group North America, LLC is seeking a Specialist Engineer - Vehicle Maintainability in Greensboro, North Carolina. This role involves monitoring and analyzing vehicle maintenance data to identify trends and patterns, and recommending corrective actions. The position requires cross-functional collaboration with other GTT functions globally to optimize maintainability, assisting technology teams, and mentoring team members. Key responsibilities include implementing maintainability engineering strategies, driving concept reviews and packaging studies for maintainability optimization, supporting the maintainability roadmap, and contributing to global technology roadmap synchronization. The role also involves coordinating feature maintainability status across various areas (daily maintenance, predictive, preventive, corrective, diagnostics, software download), documenting customer needs, and translating them into product and technology requirements. Additionally, the engineer will facilitate balancing maintainability requirements across technology streams and conduct in-depth maintenance cost analysis to support business cases for maintainability-optimized concepts.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience working in the Aftermarket business in the heavy duty truck industry.
  • Must have 4 years of experience handling automotive purchasing processes.
  • Must have 2 years of experience in working with and developing automotive services products.
  • Must have 2 years of experience in performing data analysis.
  • Must have 2 years of experience in developing strategy for and working with automated data analysis.
  • Must have 2 years of experience in performing PowerBI development.
  • Must have 2 years of experience in using virtual or augmented reality in automotive product development.
  • Must have 2 years of experience in working with export market products and within the export market aftermarket business.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience repairing vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and analyzing vehicle maintenance data to identify trends and patterns, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Working cross-functionally with other GTT functions both locally and globally to optimize maintainability.
  • Assisting technology teams within the maintainability engineering area and acting as a mentor to others in the team.
  • Implementing maintainability engineering strategies for assigned products and technologies.
  • Driving concept reviews and packaging studies to ensure designs are optimized for maintainability.
  • Supporting the maintainability roadmap and contributing to technology roadmap synchronization globally with other engineering areas and across departments.
  • Coordinating feature maintainability status considering daily maintenance, predictive, preventive, corrective, diagnostics, and software download areas.
  • Organizing work with brands and uptime stakeholders to document customer needs (product targets) and translate these into quantifiable product and technology requirements for maintainability.
  • Facilitating balancing of maintainability requirements within all technology streams.
  • Conducting in-depth maintenance cost analysis building product and technology business cases to support concept selection optimized for maintainability.
