About The Position

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is looking for a Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety (RMS) Engineer to support various Satellite Communications (SATCOM) programs and product lines. As a Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety (RMS) Engineer, you will work across disciplines at all stages in a product’s lifecycle to guarantee a safe and reliable system from development to disposal. With acute eye and attention to detail, ensure requirements compliance and the safety and reliability of personnel, equipment, and environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in a engineering field
  • Experience in writing technical reports
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Human Systems Integration (HIS) with a focus specifically on Human Factors Engineering (HFE)
  • Experience with Radio Frequency (RF) based communication systems
  • Experience with Reliability and Maintainability predictions
  • Familiarity with military standards such as MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-HDBK-338B, MIL-HDBK-470, MIL-STD-1629A and their applications
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1472 and the application of MIL-STD-1472 requirements
  • Experience with MIL-STD-882E and conducting hazard analysis on complex systems
  • Experience with Software Safety as outlined in MIL-STD-882E
  • Experience with hazardous material tracking (e.g. NAS-411) and mitigations

Responsibilities

  • Generate inputs to Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and reliability and maintainability analyses in accordance with Military Standards (MIL-STD) and Military Handbooks (MIL-HDBK) such as MIL-HDBK-217F and MIL-STD-1629A
  • Participate in and perform failure tracking and trending as part of Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
  • Conduct Military Standard (MIL-STD) 882E System Safety Program compliant tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400)
  • Facilitate safe and useable systems through participating in design reviews
  • Review, monitor, and track hazardous materials (e.g. National Aerospace Standard (NAS) 411) used throughout systems and document any mitigations that may be necessary
  • Support compliance audits that demonstrate how internal processes and procedures are used on programs
