About The Position

StandardAero is seeking a Specialist, Eng to join their team. This role participates as a team member in specific phases of broad engineering assignments, executing preparation of appropriate documentation and ensuring successful completion within budgeted time and cost constraints. The Specialist will participate in defining engineering approaches, planning and scheduling work, and designing mechanical components and assemblies with an emphasis on manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability. Responsibilities include performing engineering calculations, preparing and modifying CAD drawings (AutoCAD, Solidworks), evaluating materials and parts, and collaborating with other functional areas. The role also involves determining costing estimates for proposals, developing bills of materials, and writing technical content for proposals. This position requires a strong understanding of aircraft maintenance and interior standard practices within an MRO environment.

Requirements

Two (2) years related experience and/or training in an aircraft MRO environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with aircraft related activity, to include aircraft maintenance and interior standard practice.
Exhibits sound and accurate judgment. Supports and explains the reasoning for their decisions and includes the appropriate people in his/her decision making process.
Must be able to handle multiple projects, multiple deadlines and meet aggressive schedules.
Must be able to look ahead, anticipate problems and proactively address issues.
Must have strong organization and planning skills.
Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
Must be able to work either alone or as a team to solve problems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills, team building skills
Must have knowledge of Microsoft products required such as Excel and Word.
Must be able to enter aircraft unassisted, kneel or physically capable perform interior evaluations.
The position requires sitting at computer for long periods of time, standing at 30 minute meetings and walking to aircraft on the ramp.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of AutoCAD 2016 preferred.

Responsibilities

Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment.
Executes preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.
Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.
Design mechanical components and assemblies with an emphasis on manufacturability, reliability and maintainability.
Perform engineering calculations to determine the size and strength of components. Solve design problems and check computations contributing to analytical designs.
Prepare, modify and release drawings created in CAD (AutoCAD, Solidworks) to verify fit, form and function of mechanical designs.
Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.
Operate in a team environment with other functional areas providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.
Determines content of items required in support of costing estimates for proposals. This may include developing bills of materials, engineering hours, proto-type requirements, tooling requirements, non-recurring engineering, qualification and certification action requirements.
Writes and oversees the general overall technical content of the proposal including technical product descriptions
Performs other related duties as required.
