About the TalentED Greater Calgary Project TalentED Greater Calgary aims to generate 2,000 work-based learning opportunities for youth ages 18-24 by engaging small to medium-sized businesses and non-profits across the greater Calgary region. This project will increase employer engagement with youth and apply an innovative and collaborative approach. Job Summary The Employer Engagement Specialist proactively conducts employer outreach and business development to secure impactful work‑based learning (WBL) opportunities for youth across greater Calgary. This role identifies, pitches, and converts non‑profit and other employer leads by positioning TalentED as a practical workforce and talent pipeline solution. Through strong relationship management and inclusive engagement practices, the Specialist supports employers through recruitment and placement, builds employer capacity through tools and training, and ensures opportunities are well‑aligned, accessible, and high‑quality. This is a full-time contract position with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days a week.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in business development, human resources, career development, consulting, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Business development and relationship management. Skilled in outreach and maintaining strong connections with employers and stakeholders, with an understanding of labour market dynamics, the non-profit sector and equity practices.
  • Use excellent interpersonal skills to provide tailored support for employers and close deals.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to pitch value, relay information clearly, and support diverse audiences.
  • Able to translate complex information into accessible language.
  • Experienced in managing employer accounts, tracking accurate KPIs and supporting the adoption of new processes and technologies.
  • Ability to identify root causes and develop effective solutions to operational and stakeholder challenges.
  • Able to pivot based on changing priorities, tasks, or deadlines and looks for creative or alternative ways to optimize workflow.
  • Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, Monday.com, and generative AI.

Nice To Haves

  • CPHR designation would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience supporting employers and/or job seekers would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, prospect, and engage non-profit and other employers through direct outreach, relationship-building, and participation in relevant industry and community events to generate qualified leads and WBL opportunities.
  • Position and sell the business case for hiring youth by aligning TalentED’s offerings to employers’ workforce, capacity, and talent pipeline needs.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with hiring managers and organizational decision-makers to uncover hiring demand, skill gaps, and project-based opportunities suitable for WBL.
  • Present and tailor TalentED resources, including WBL posting templates and wage subsidy referrals, as value-added solutions that reduce hiring risk and cost for employers.
  • Advance an inclusive employer engagement strategy by promoting equitable hiring practices and ensuring opportunities are accessible to youth from marginalized or underrepresented groups.
  • Analyze information from community employment centres and post-secondary institutions (PSIs) on program offerings and youth to be able to advise on effective placement strategies.
  • Review requests from employers on potential talent needs and work with them to align to potential youth/programs.
  • Triage challenges or concerns from employers and work with TalentED team and stakeholders to address concerns.
  • Prepare and deliver workshops and AI training for employers to streamline recruitment, onboarding, and supervision of youth.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify concerns or areas of improvement for developed processes, tools and templates.
  • Collect feedback from employers on tools and templates to determine areas for continuous improvement.
  • Work with team to implement improvements to tools and templates.
  • Document employer interactions in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to maintain an accurate record for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting.
  • Ensure relevant information is included in the WBL platform and other relevant data tracking tools by following up with employers for missing details, as needed.
  • Maintain files associated with various employers for WBL.
  • Support with coordination of events as it relates to engaging employers and increasing WBL placements; collect attendance and employer feedback from events to support project goals.
