Specialist Direct Support Professional - In-Home Services
About The Position
This role focuses on supporting individuals with daily activities to achieve personalized outcomes in residential group homes. The Specialist Direct Support Professional will help individuals increase their independence in various skills, including learning about community resources, finding hobbies, and working on personal cares, meal preparation, planning, or budgeting. Responsibilities also include administering medications, assisting with daily personal care needs, performing cooking, cleaning, and other housekeeping duties, and supporting individuals in achieving their personal goals and daily routines. The role requires working with individuals displaying challenging behaviors, including verbal and physical aggression, and adapting services to each person’s unique needs and preferences. Support will be provided in areas of communication, personal hygiene, and basic living skills.
Requirements
- 21 years of age or older
- Proficient in spoken and written English language
- Comfortable providing personal cares (including but not limited to: bathroom supports, bathing/showering, medication administration)
- Successful clearance of Department of Human Services background check
- Successful clearance of Motor Vehicle Background Check and acceptable driving record per Company Policy
Nice To Haves
- At least 2 years supporting individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or mental health diagnosis
- At least 2 years working with individuals with verbal and physical aggressions
- Experience implementing Emergency Use of Manuel Restraints (applicable at select programs)
