Specialist Direct Support Professional - In-Home Services
About The Position
This role focuses on supporting individuals with daily activities to achieve personalized outcomes in residential group homes. The primary goal is to increase independence in various life skills, including understanding community resources, pursuing hobbies, and managing personal care, meal preparation, planning, and budgeting. The position involves administering medications, assisting with personal care needs, and performing household duties like cooking and cleaning. A key aspect of this role is working with individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors, including verbal and physical aggression, and adapting services to meet each person's unique needs and preferences. Support will be provided in areas such as communication, personal hygiene, and basic living skills.
Requirements
- 21 years of age or older
- Proficient in spoken and written English language
- Comfortable providing personal cares (including but not limited to: bathroom supports, bathing/showering, medication administration)
- Successful clearance of Department of Human Services background check
- Successful clearance of Motor Vehicle Background Check and acceptable driving record per Company Policy
Nice To Haves
- At least 2 years supporting individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or mental health diagnosis
- At least 2 years working with individuals with verbal and physical aggressions
- Experience implementing Emergency Use of Manuel Restraints (applicable at select programs)
Responsibilities
- Support individuals with daily activities to achieve personalized outcomes in residential group homes.

- Administer medications and assist with daily personal care needs.
- Perform cooking, cleaning, and other housekeeping duties as needed.
- Assist individuals in achieving their personal goals and support them in their daily routines.
- Work with individuals displaying challenging behaviors, including verbal and physical aggression.
- Adapt to each person’s unique needs and preferences, tailoring services accordingly.
- Provide support in areas of communication, personal hygiene, and basic living skills.
