Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain or Purchasing, or a related technical field.
  • 4+ years of experience in purchasing or supply chain in the automotive environment, preferably in a Purchasing role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective negotiation experience specific to automotive Exterior commodity purchasing.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of automotive, manufacturing or related industries.
  • A reputation for developing and nurturing excellent stakeholder and partner supplier relationships.
  • Experience managing supplier performance.
  • Program management experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Proactivity, initiative and the ability to work across multiple workstreams.
  • A passion for creating something new.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with Automotive Purchasing ERP systems and processes.
  • Familiarity with OEM Automotive supply base, and how to interact within the supply community.
  • Good interpersonal skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Scout team to identify and confirm the acceptability of new suppliers for parts and services, including participating in pre-sourcing audits.
  • Establish sourcing strategy and business plans for assigned commodities and product groups.
  • Lead the sourcing process, including contract award, for Exterior commodity purchasing to meet material cost and tooling targets.
  • Present sourcing strategies in a multi-level sourcing committee environment.
  • Prepare and execute negotiated contractual documents and nomination agreements.
  • Act as program manager during the pre-production phase, ensuring supplier industrialization meets project requirements for timing, cost, and quality.
  • Evaluate and apply technical changes to parts/services, ensuring cost, quality, and delivery objectives are met.
  • Lead cross-functional evaluation of suppliers' preparedness for mass production with Quality, Engineering, and Logistics teams.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics.
