About The Position

Nationwide's Technology team is seeking a motivated Specialist, Data Analyst who is passionate about turning data into clear, actionable insights that improve business decisions and create value. In this role, the individual will help translate business needs into practical data solutions, strengthen data quality and reporting, and partner across teams to deliver secure, reliable, and efficient outcomes. The ideal candidate is energized by solving problems, working collaboratively, and using modern analytics and AI-enabled capabilities to help Nationwide continue building a future-forward, data-enabled culture. This position will be hired on a SuccessFlex basis and requires the associate to reside within 35 miles of Columbus, OH. The work schedule is 2 days in office and 3 days remote.

Requirements

Strong data analysis, profiling, and data wrangling skills, with the ability to turn raw data into useful business insight.
Intermediate or stronger SQL skills, including writing custom queries to analyze and validate data.
Experience with reporting, dashboarding, and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
Ability to gather, clarify, and translate business and analytic requirements into practical data solutions.
Understanding of data modeling, data mapping, and the flow of data across processes and interfaces.
Experience supporting self-service analytics and helping business partners use data more effectively.
Working knowledge of secure software and systems engineering practices as they apply to data and analytics solutions.
Familiarity with approved analytics, reporting, and emerging AI-enabled tools that improve insight generation and operational efficiency.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify root causes, evaluate options, and recommend practical solutions.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong collaboration skills and a team-first mindset, with the ability to build relationships and work cross-functionally with stakeholders, product teams, and technology partners.
Curiosity and adaptability, with a desire to learn new tools, technologies, and better ways of working.
Ability to influence, facilitate discussions, and manage priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Responsible and practical use of AI to improve analysis, accelerate insight generation, and identify innovation opportunities while maintaining quality, security, and sound judgment.
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, a related field or comparable experience and education strongly preferred.
Two to five years of relevant experience with data management/ organization/ analytics or practices.
Experience in with data visualization tools, reporting and self-service analytic techniques.
Experience in application of data acquisition and data wrangling.

Nice To Haves

Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science or a related field are a plus.
Certifications are not required but encouraged.
Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

Elicits reporting and analytic requirements from business and technology requestors to generate visualization or analysis.
Supports implementation of data requirements and practices for an assigned area.
Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Under supervision creates and executes standard visualization techniques.
Uses visualization and analysis techniques to present findings of data exploration exercises to stakeholders based on requirements gleaned.
Maps the flow of data and the business processes and/or technical interfaces which would be created or impacted and recommends solutions/adaptations.
Collaborates with others to implement standardized data reporting, analytics, and visualization tools.
Works on profiling, mapping, and modeling tools.
With guidance may partner with others on projects requiring data visualization.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
