About The Position

In Canada, we are developing the Jansen Potash Project, a CAD$14 billion investment located about 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This project is set to become one of the largest and most sustainable potash mines globally, creating approximately 5,500 jobs during construction and around 900 permanent roles once operational. As a Specialist Data & Digital, you will be crucial in enhancing the safety, reliability, and connectivity of our potash operations. This hands-on role involves transforming operational challenges into practical data and digital solutions. You will design and build data pipelines, system integrations, and digital tools that are trusted and used by frontline and business teams. Your work will ensure reliable data flow from source to insight, supporting better decision-making across the site and enterprise, in close collaboration with operational teams, IT, OT, and analytics colleagues.

Requirements

  • At least five years of hands‑on experience in data engineering, digital solutions, or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience building and supporting data pipelines, system integrations, and interfaces.
  • Experience working with cloud‑based data platforms and modern data architectures.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, applied to real operational challenges.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with both technical specialists and non‑technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in asset‑intensive, industrial, or operational environments is highly regarded.
  • A practical, collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in delivering outcomes that matter.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines from operational, IT, and third party systems.
  • Develop and support system integrations using APIs, ETL/ELT tools, and approved enterprise platforms.
  • Configure and support practical digital tools and low code solutions that meet real operational needs.
  • Monitor data quality, reliability, and availability, responding quickly when issues arise.
  • Ensure all solutions align with BHP’s architecture, cybersecurity, and data governance standards.
  • Prepare and structure data to support analytics, reporting, and decision making.
  • Contribute to reusable assets, standards, documentation, and best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with business, IT, OT, analytics teams, and delivery partners to deliver fit for purpose solutions.
  • Actively support testing, deployment, and adoption of solutions across the business.
  • Design and build with safety, risk, and operational realities front of mind.
