Requirements

  • 5+ years of overall (import and export) trade operations role.
  • Knowledge of U.S., Canada, and Mexico import and export regulations as they relate to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other Participating Government Agencies (PGA).
  • Proficient in HTSUS classification (automotive preferred).
  • Experienced in relevant areas of trade compliance (country of origin, free trade agreements, foreign trade zones, valuation).
  • Familiar with using ACE for both import and export.
  • Attention to detail and strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, thrive in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment and make quick but informed decisions.
  • Strong customer relationship skills to develop and deploy effective solutions and broader strategies.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • SAP® and ONESOURCE™ experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree—preferably in International Business or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred U.S. Customs Brokers License and/or Certified Customs/Export Specialist
  • Knowledgeable of logistics operations

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily functions to ensure timely fulfillment of customs obligations.
  • Responsible for classifying items with a high level of accuracy for both imports and export.
  • Communicate with Carriers, Customs Brokers, Foreign Suppliers, and Freight Forwarders to address any issues related to customs entries and clearance processes.
  • Perform audits on import and export entries and report findings.
  • Organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to manage workload and meet deadlines and daily requirements.
  • Work well individually and cross-functionally to provide top-notch customer service to all internal departments.
  • Work with management team to create and implement policies and procedures.
  • Monitor customs regulations and updates, identifying potential compliance risks, and work with management to implement necessary correction actions.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by management.
