About The Position

The Elementary Science Curriculum Specialist works in collaboration with other elementary core content specialists under the direction of the Director of Elementary Curriculum. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Curriculum writing experience
  • Professional development design and presentation experience
  • Five years’ job related experience
  • Expertise in secondary science curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Exceptional knowledge of effective teaching strategies and classroom environments
  • Evidence of success in academically advancing gifted and talented students, English Language Learners, and students with special needs in an inclusive environment
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in the area of planning and presenting professional learning
  • Ability to facilitate and coordinate district functions
  • Understanding of the instructional needs of 21st century learners
  • Works effectively with and lead adult learners
  • Strong technology skills including technology integration
  • Ability to multi-task

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Leadership experience at the campus level and/or district level
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
  • Five years’ classroom experience
  • Experience with multiple grade levels
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with science directors to develop, review, and modify secondary science curriculum and assessments.
  • Analyzes data and identifies the appropriate instructional response to data trends.
  • Remain current on educational research and instructional best practices and apply research and data to daily work.
  • Attends weekend and evening events associated with science programs.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
