This position involves planning and implementing a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, diverse backgrounds, and abilities of students. The Specialist will assist in establishing department or grade-level curriculum objectives and developing a comprehensive plan for their implementation and evaluation. A key aspect of the role is creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students, guiding the learning process towards curriculum goals, and establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects. The Specialist will employ appropriate instructional methods and materials, assess student accomplishments regularly, and provide progress reports. They will also diagnose student learning strengths and weaknesses, seeking assistance from District specialists as needed, and counsel with colleagues, students, and parents. The role includes assisting administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct, developing and maintaining classroom rules and order, and planning assignments for support personnel and volunteers. Utilizing appropriate technology in teaching and learning, maintaining accurate records and reports, and performing Medicaid administrative claims reimbursable activities are also responsibilities. Adherence to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida and school/District policy requirements is expected, as is supporting school improvement initiatives and recognizing and acting on indicators of student distress or abuse. Establishing an appropriate testing environment and test security is also part of the role.
