About The Position

Provides advice, consultation, and guidance regarding student behavior issues. Collects, organizes, and analyzes data that assists with the development of individualized programming for students. Supports school teams with using behavioral intervention strategies supported by the principals of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). Provides professional development to personnel supporting students in need of ABA supports. Ensures that all initiatives support the system-wide goals identified in systems strategic plan. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree.
  • Three years of professional experience working with students receiving emotional and behavioral supports.
  • Possession of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) is required.
  • Possession of a valid Behavior Analyst License by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of compliance with federal and state mandates including mediation and due process procedures.
  • Knowledge of support services and training for schools’ staff, state legislation for students with disabilities, and services to students with hearing, vision, physical, speech-language, cognitive, emotional, and learning disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of applied behavioral analysis.
  • Skill in conducting applied behavioral analysis.
  • Demonstration of outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstration of strong leadership, communication, and human relations skills.
  • Possession of technology competency (e.g., database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications); skill and experience in data analysis and application.
  • Fingerprinting and criminal background investigation.
  • Provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • Provide a copy of DD214 if military experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a Maryland Educator Professional Certificate or Professional License in the area of special education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts descriptive and systematic behavioral assessments, including functional assessments, and provides behavior analytic interpretations of the results.
  • Designs and supervises behavior analytic interventions.
  • Effectively develops and implements appropriate assessment and intervention methods for use in a range of cases.
  • Models for staff effective behavior analytic interventions based on published research and designs and delivers professional development in behavior analysis.
  • Supervises the work of staff who implement behavior analytic interventions.
  • Provides training to parents and/or other primary caregivers to provide additional instruction in the home and community environments.
  • Trains staff in gathering and analyzing baseline data, in-treatment /progress data, and post-treatment data to measure the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Conducts inter-observer agreement sessions to insure that data is being tracked with fidelity.
  • Assists with developing visual representations of data.
  • Meets and collaborates with various administrative teams, academic teams, and teachers regarding the behavioral needs of students receiving special education services.
  • Identifies appropriate strategies and interventions.
  • Participation in IEP meetings.
  • Assists in the development of IEPs for students who require the support of the BCBA.
